As a reference,
I start from

and look into base/*
(yes egrep is you friend)

For what it's worth, I have been using the command "texexec" to

I'm on linux too and I use only mkiv
ie luatex + context

I always compile with
$>context <yourfile.tex>

Keep in mind that mkiv is beta ...
