Sorry, it was the wrong order:
\expanded{\goto{\hyphenatedurl{\xmlflush{#1}}}[url(\xmlflush{#1})]}
\xmlpure is for \hyphenatedurl, not for url.
But your plain \goto is what I use and I have been using it without
problems for long.
