Hi,
Thanks for all comments and remarks so far. The process of translation
is as follows: I wrote he dutch manual. Ton translates it into english.
I translate the commands and check the examples. Then I upload the pdf
files and when I get feedback I correct the errors you send me. Typical
something to do while running big jobs.
There are several bottlenecks in this process: the speed of translating
the text (ton), the speed of checking the samples (me) and correcting
the errors (you and me). A complicating factor is that (later on) some
examples are word-jokes or games related to the meaning of macros. We'll
see how these end up.
Keep in mind that this is the ref manual and not for beginners. I expect
readers to be familiar with the basics of context.
For the moment we are thinking of 6 manuals:
(1) the beginners manual
(2) the big manual, focused on paper work
(3) making interactive documents
(4) (meta) graphics in context
(5) fine points of texing (typography)
(6) presentations in context
1 is sort of finished (but will be updated / stripped a bit soon), 2 is
under construction, 6 comes probably next, then 3, 4 and 5 will evolve.
It sort of keeps me busy.

Speaking of 2, the big manual, I was having some trouble printing
parts three and four of the english translation and now I see that the
links for those parts are inactive. I'm just curious about it.

Hm. I probably didn't update the html page. You can access them
directly.

Hi,
The following manual source trees are now available:
allkind (some)
columns (whole manual)
details (whole manual)
lua (experimental)
magazines (all)
metafun (whole manual)
some of them use independent pdf files (as image) which need to be
processed using the provides ruby 'runtools' script [runtools is my way
of making it platform independent]
some manuals may use commercial fonts when run here
some manuals assume that you have texnansi metrics around [use texfont]
don't redistribute manuals that you compiled yourself (i'd hate to run
into manuals with the wrong fonts or errors dur to misconfigurations)
we still need to figure out a way to deal with comments, additions,
corrections, etc

Hi,
The context.aanhet.net mirror performs an automatic
checkout of svn://ctx.pragma-ade.nl/manuals every hour.
The working tree is browseable on the web, from the starting url
http://context.aanhet.net/svn
Have fun!

Hi,
In the process of testing the new mathml implementation, I committed the
mathml manuals to the ctx svn repository.

The xchemml and xphysml manuals are now in the documentation svn
repository (they may need updating / completion)

[-- Attachment #1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1355 bytes --]
In the NTG MAPS journal of last fall Hans Hagen has written an
article titled "What tools do ConTeXt users have?" It broadly
describes the many changes and additions to the ConTeXt Perl tools on
account of the switch to Ruby tools.
In several places a manual or different manuals are pointed to. For
example in the section "On launching scripts" it says: "More details
can be found in the manual". In the section on "The tools collection"
it reads: "Each tool comes with a manual, so we will not discuss
details here".
These manuals seem very interesting, but I have not being able to
find them. They are not in the docs-directory of cont-tmf.zip
distribution, nor in the scripts/context/ruby folders. The article
does not have url's pointing manual-containing url's.
Presumably I am overlooking them; mtexmfstart.pdf I could locate on
the pragma site, mtexutil.pdf is on the perl script and seemingly
obsolete because texutil is not mentioned in the said article. But
manuals on mpstools, mpstools, rlxtools, runtools, to name a few,
elude me. Please can someone be of help here.
As an aside, a suggestion to Hans Hagen: the documents section of the
site does not show the last version date of the manuals. That would
be handy in order to prevent downloading of already downloaded stuff.
Thanks.
Hans van der Meer

Hi,
On the website we now have tagged manuals as:
- all -> mkii and mkiv
- mkii -> written with mkii in mind, so not always optimal for mkiv
- mkiv -> written with mkiv in mind, so mostly not optimal for mkii
- obsolete -> (partially) obsolete or in need of an update
This is visible in show-man.* and the pages that describe the manuals.

Hans,
Will you be so kind as to place the last revision dates on the table-
of-contents web page. Besides looking for things usefull for mkii and/
or mkiv, I now find myself downloading files just to discover if it is
a document-version I already have.
met vriendelijke groet
