I looked at the output; a bit ugly (which tells me the xml is probably as weird as Hans suggests). Yes, we can't expect miracles. The real problem is converting to a structured format, and that limits things. But for academic articles and the like a reasonable subset should be possible to cook up... I think the potential of OOo as pre-TeX wysiwyg editor is worth exploring. My own needs are for an academic journal so it's a bit urgent for me, anyway... maybe a year from now...
