Thanks for that! The first problem is solved now. I can output PDF files with the desired fonts. The font installation itself is ok. I run into trouble though as soon as I set TEXMF, VARTEXMF or other TeX related environment variables. Neither your Plain TeX sample nor ConTeXt will work anymore if I use a typical PostScript font. I didn't touch texmf.cfg or other .ini files yet. My system is RedHat 7.2 with TeX-Live 7 installed. Strange ... Axel
