I doubt that users will agree on any language and I consider this a feature: based on JSON filters can be implemented in any programming language This reminds me that an officiall mapping of pandoc-types to XML would be nice to also support XSLT filters. Lua filters directly runnable by pandoc executable would also be nice but they would not end this discussion ;-)
