List of References missing when coverting DOCX with to a simple text file

I have a complex docx that I am exporting via pandoc to a simple text file.

pandoc test.docx --wrap=preserve -s -o test.txt

The test.docx file has a 'bibliography and citations' element (via the MS 
Word tool create bibliography); however, when I convert the docx to a text 
file, the references are being left out in the txt file. I tried to find 
the correct option that would allow to include the bibliography but to no 
avail. Any ideas?

We'd need to see the docx to see how this is encoded.

It's any generic MS Word Bilbiography. You just simply create one in Word 
by creating a bibliography with the Word Tool, see:

After editing references, create a bibliography by clicking on References > 
Bibliography, and choose any format. 

The Word internal bibliography does not get exported into a text file using 
pandoc.

Word's native references feature (which I assume this is) isn't

Thanks, bad luck as I was really hoping to be working with Panda for
various automation tasks in tow with Python. :/ I have now written a quck
perl script does copy the bibliography into a txt as a cheap makeshift but
it's not ideal.
