Two Column layout in R Markdown Beamer

Is there any way to break the raw tex passing of pandoc? I like to have a 
two column layout, this is possible using pure latex but it is not possible 
to include R then. The problem seems to be down to pandoc

. Any solution or work around would be greatly appreciated.
