disable page numbering? (LaTeX, pdf)

Is there a way to disable page numbering in pdf output?

Currently I adjust margins and font size like so:

    pandoc -s -S -o foo.tex -V geometry:margin=0.75in -V fontsize:11pt
    foo.txt

Is there a command line option to get rid of the page numbers in the
output?

I see that I can put the following into my input txt file:

    \pagenumbering{gobble}

and that works, but I was looking for a way that didn't involve having
to add that to my file.

What's wrong with putting it in the template then, as proposed by scoa in 
his answer to your question here:
