I think there’s been a similar question a few days ago...

Betreff: pandoc pdflatex conversion on M1 Mac
I just upgraded to a new Mac with M1 chip and OS X 11.4. I'm writing mostly in Atom, then using pandoc to convert Markdown/LaTeX outputs to PDF. But I now get the following error:
pandoc: pdflatex not found. pdflatex is needed for pdf output.
I installed (and re-installed) the latest 2021 release of BasicTeX, but pdflatex doesn't appear in the terminal:
pdflatex -- version
zsh: command not found: pdflatex
But pdflatex is in /Library/TeX/texbin/. And I can also manually locate it in the terminal:
locate pdflatex /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python/matplotlib/tests/baseline_images/test_backend_pgf/pgf_pdflatex.pdf /usr/local/texlive/2021basic/bin/universal-darwin/pdflatex /usr/local/texlive/2021basic/texmf-dist/tex/latex/latexconfig/pdflatex.ini /usr/local/texlive/2021basic/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/pdflatex.fmt /usr/local/texlive/2021basic/texmf-var/web2c/pdftex/pdflatex.log
Is pandoc looking for pdflatex in the wrong directory? I'm a bit out of my comfort zone here, so any advice is much appreciated. Many thanks!
Martin
