Is it possible to add this metadata inside the markdown file and see it in the beamer slides?

I'm already using the Berlin theme. Inside the YAML block I have:

   - title
   - author
   - date 

However, I want to know if it's possible to add the "Workshop on 
Algorithms" and the text that specifies the number of slides inside each 
section in the YAML block.

Is it possible to do it with pandoc or this kind of things should be worked 
with my TeX editor?
