I'm curious as to whether anyone here has experimented with Matthew Butterick's Pollen, at <https://github.com/mbutterick/pollen>. He sets it up against both Markdown (at <http://mbutterick.github.io/pollen/doc/second-tutorial.html>) and XML (at <http://mbutterick.github.io/pollen/doc/third-tutorial.html>). On a perfunctory level, it seems much more difficult to write in than Pandoc's extended Markdown, but there are some interesting ideas.

All best,

Andrew Dunning

I haven't, but it's interesting.  My own
[HeX](http://github.com/jgm/HeX) project had similar goals.

Note that it's already possible to mix embed markdown in LaTeX
using LuaTeX.
