Hi there,

Pandoc seems to ignore math whitespace commands when the output format is docx (as viewed with LibreOffice 5.2.3.3).  For example, the \qquad in the following equation is ignored:

$$ y = mx + b \qquad (1) $$

It works for LaTeX and html output.

This is a simple example: Whitespace is used for many purposes in writing equations.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?  Is there a workaround?
