There are a lot of open pull requests, but calling this a backlog isn't entirely correct. In most cases, they are open because, although there is something good in them, and we want to think about them more, we are doubtful about whether the proposed fix is an optimal one.

In the case of your pulls: there is ongoing discussion, as late as today, about how to fix the issues addressed by 9170 and 9162. I can have another look at 8998...but the last commits there, in response to earlier feedback, were only last week.

We have been closely following the project’s progress and have observed the growing number of open issues (947 to date) and pull requests (77 at the current count). Recognizing the immense value that Pandoc provides to the community, we are keen to explore how we might contribute to the project's health and sustainability.

Could the project be facing constraints in terms of time, resources, or funding? We are contemplating what actions our team could take to assist effectively.
