writing ePub documents, it is rather easy to have autolinks that don’t
fit on a single line.

A simple way to improve this situation in HTML would be to add
zero-width space (​) before the characters
"-._~:/?#[]@!$&'()*+,;=/" (without quotes). I think http:// should be
kept together.

Just in case I’m not being clear, the parsing of
<http://optimist.optimist/optimist#optimist&optimist> would be:

<a
href="http://optimist.optimist/optimist#optimist&optimist">http://&#8203;optimist&#8203;.optimist&#8203;/optimist&#8203;#optimist&#8203;&optimist</a>

This would be useful also for HTML files, since there is no hyphenation
for urls.

This would be a huge improvement when displaying urls in both ePub and
HTML documents.
