I’m using
cabal-install version 1.24.0.2
compiled using version 1.24.2.0 of the Cabal library 

which came with ghc 8.0.2

    Versions available: 1.18.1.7, 1.20.0.3, 1.20.0.4, 1.22.6.0, 1.22.7.0,
                        1.22.8.0, 1.24.0.0, (1.24.1.0), 1.24.2.0 (and 41 others)
    Versions installed: 1.24.2.0

Looks good.
