For those who might have missed it, I recently spurred (see comments in

(in)famous technology blogger Igor Ljubuncic a.k.a. Dedoimedo into reviewing

...Turns out Pandoc users are considered ultra-nerds living in deep space 
"Nerdon Nebula".

It's horrible. His opinions are horrible. No wonder I never heard of him
before just now.

The main reason you want to write in Pandoc is exactly because writing in
both HTML and LaTeX is about writing *code*. Writing in Pandoc/Markdown is
about *writing*. Plus it uses **familiar** plain-text conventions.

I write my PhD in it! First because I can just write in a text editor and a
bunch of ugly layout code doesn't get in my way. Second because I can
output the same thing to PDF for preview copies, to Word for copies my
supervisor can markup, and to Latex for production output. Third, because I
can easily use simple programmerly tools like git to track versions and
provide an offsite backup of my thesis, plus now I've now got an automated
build pipeline that goes from *Text I Wrote* to *Necessary Output
Artefacts*, automatically, in the background.
