I have the following markdown:
# heading
$\text{if you're happy and you know it}$
$\qquad\text{clap your}\qquad\text{hands!}$
I'm converting this to pdf using
pandoc filename.md -o filename.pdf
and in the output pdf the \qquad between 'clap your' and 'hands' renders correctly, but the leading \qquad before 'clap your' appears to be missing as there is no space before the line begins. I tried generating tex instead of pdf and got the following:
\hypertarget{heading}{%
\section{heading}\label{heading}}
\(\text{if you're happy and you know it}\)\\
\(\qquad\text{clap your hands!}\qquad\pi\)
So the leading \qquad seems to be present in the intermediate stage. Does anybody know why it's not rendering in the output?
