I have my own predefined latex environments for proofs, notes, lemmas, 
etc... I (could also) use amsmath for that, like:

\begin{def}
>
> Definition: (the norm)\\
>
> Let \(X\) real Euclidean space. A norm of an element \(a \in X\) is 
> defined as: \(\left\| a \parallel \right.: = \sqrt{a,a}\).
>
> \end{def}
>

I'd like to read this latex document and get an md file like

> <p>Definition: (the norm)<br />
> Let \(X\) real Euclidean space. A norm of an element \(a \in X\) is

Is there a way to do this? Currently I use regex, but I hope there's a 
professional way to do this.
