In order to have Pandoc filters with arguments I wrote pandoctools - 
https://github.com/kiwi0fruit/pandoctools - a profile manager of text 
processing pipelines that consist of Pandoc filters or any text CLI 
filters. Profiles are special bash scripts so they are quite flexible.
