In my document, there is a figure consisting of multiple images, which is too large for one page. Putting each image in a single figure might potentially mess up automatic numbering and placement in different output formats. Therefore, I wrote a filter, which puts multiple Images as content into a Figure. Is this actually the intended use of the pandoc.Figure() structure? In DOCX (Word) output, this results in a figure with all images in one row (which makes it really small).
