I have seen -F being used instead of --filter around on the web, but I 
can't find it documented either in manual or man page of pandoc?

Yes `-F` and `--filter` are identical. Good catch if it is indeed undocumented.

It doesn't seem to be mentioned on the website (i.e., in the user 
manual), but it's listed if you do `pandoc --help'.

I just did a PR (#4732) for this, simply adding the -F equivalent.
