Just a quick side-note: That's not necessarily true anymore.  Apple 
dropped Perl as a standard tool in 10.15.  (Along with Python, Ruby, 
etc.)  If you need it, you'll have to install it yourself.  (An app can 
also bundle their own version, of course.)
