Logging out and logging back on should have done the trick.  The PATH
variable is set in your shell's initialization file (like .bashrc) and
exported into the environment.  I can't recall ever having an issue on
Linux where I had to reboot to cure a problem like that.  (Or on Unix,
for that matter, since I started on AT&T Unix System V Release 2.)
