I do exactly this with the Alfred workflow tool  -
https://www.alfredapp.com/.

I have a variety of workflows setup for various conversions.  Here's one
for markdown->RTF, for pasting rich text into Office.

pbpaste | pandoc --standalone --from=markdown --to=rtf --output=- | pbcopy
