* Easy collapsible sections with markdown @ 2020-06-17 11:12 boardtc [not found] ` <7309650e-0a39-4912-b027-dde817edd6d7o-/JYPxA39Uh5TLH3MbocFFw@public.gmane.org> 0 siblings, 1 reply; 3+ messages in thread From: boardtc @ 2020-06-17 11:12 UTC (permalink / raw) To: pandoc-discuss [-- Attachment #1.1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1336 bytes --] Probably everyone know how to do this. I had a long first section in my markdown that I could fold in my editor but found myself scrolling in the html and thought wouldn't it be handy if that was folded to. I had a google and found the github page <https://gist.github.com/pierrejoubert73/902cc94d79424356a8d20be2b382e1ab> with instructions on how to do it, wrapping in a details tag: # A collapsible section with markdown <details> <summary>Click to expand!</summary> ## Heading 1. A numbered 2. list * With some * Sub bullets </details> I added it, did a Pandoc conversion and very unexpectedly it worked perfectly!!! Fantastic :-) Googling "collapsible section Pandoc markdown" did not find any Pandoc help but then looking at the HTML source I leaned about the HTML details tag <https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_details.asp> and it was not markdown at all. Everyday is a schoolday!" -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "pandoc-discuss" group. For gwern.net we went with a JS-based solution implemented in https://www.gwern.net/static/js/rewrite.js ; it works pretty well and I use it for collapsing all sorts of things like appendices or code blocks (because it's just another class, so you can write `~~~{.bash .collapse}`, you can see many examples in my DL writeups like https://www.gwern.net/Faces or https://www.gwern.net/GPT-2 ), where just section-based collapsing would be inadequate. -- gwern ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread
