The documented syntax for reveal.js columns plays well with pandoc-crossref subfigures for HTML (and, I suppose, EPUB) output: :::::: {.columns #fig:mainFigure} ::: {.column} ![First subfigure](){#fig:subFigureA} ::: ::: {.column} ![Second subfigure(){#fig:subFigureB} ::: General caption :::::: Then add `div.column { float: left; }` to your CSS.
