Trying to debug failure when creating PDF

G'Day from Australia,

I have a Pandoc document that works fine creating most output formats 
except PDF. I'm struggling to understand the LaTeX output.

pandoc: Error producing PDF



So where should I look in my source file for the error? Are the 
lines 687--689 relevant, or is that a previous message?  I also can't 
locate the input.log -- that directory does not exist.

Hints and suggestions most welcome.

Pandoc 1.18 on MacOS 10.12.1 installed via homebrew

Hard to know what is happening without seeing your input. The errors are from LaTeX and refer to the .tex output produced by Pandoc; you can see that either by changing the extension from .pdf or by using the Verbose option.

Thanks for that. I created the tex file and looked for the words "The 
commit is complete"

Not sure that was the correct approach put I found the problem (spurious 
`\` at the end of a line)
