If I have a LaTeX equation like...

\[ 1 + 1 \rightarrow 2 \footnote{usually} \]

This renders well in pdfTeX, etc. but pandoc chokes on it.

It says:

  ghtarrow 2\footnote{usually
                     ^
  unexpected "{"
  expecting "%", "\\label", "\\nonumber" or whitespace

Bug or no bug?
