I'm confused why are you using pandoc-citeproc AND biblatex??? Shouldn't you use one or the other (ideally pandoc-citeproc so you reduce your latex dependencies). 

That's being halfway from one to the other - pandoc-citeproc has worked well so far, but the sbl-latex style for biblatex has some features that pandoc-citeproc doesn't (to do with the citation and indexing of ancient sources, and the citation of lexicon and commentary sources) so I'm having to switch to biblatex.
