Hello,
I am using Pandoc to format my master's thesis. My output is either a .ot
or .docx so I can convert the PDF to an accessibly tagged PDF. This means
I'm using a reference-doc, because I don't know how to do margins and font
styling with a docx output without a reference-doc.

I am wondering how to do the following:
1. Create a title page. It needs to have document title, my program, and
some other information.
2. Provide an Author’s Declaration, which is a page I need to have as the
second page.
3. Insert abstract as page 3
4. Insert table of contents as page 5
5. Create a list of tables and figures as page 6
6. I need to number all the above pages with roman numerals, although the
title page should not have the I. Then I need to switch to Arabic numbers
for the body of the work.

Is it possible to do the above in Markdown, or do I need to generate a
separate document in word, then copy and paste the two documents together
after each compile?
Does Pandoc have a template language for word that can insert these items
where they need to go?
Thank you,

Just my 2c.

The placement of elements in word is currently quite limited (as in fixed).
That said you can still play around with the reference doc, so as to tweak
things a bit.

I normally define word to use different header/footer on the first page,
where I can include any big-centered icons in the title page.

pandoc will write the title, authors, abstract (I think). All this you can
manage via their styles, even to the point of re-positioning in the page
(creative modification of styles).
As for the new pages, since the index is also added automatically by pandoc
right before the body of the document, what I like to do is define the
Title 1, and Index Title styles in word to start always on a new page.

You'd think you could use this trick for many of your first pages and
styles like authors or abstract, but you'd need a title and content with
different styles which pandoc won't do for you (this is automated info that
pandoc inserts before your text)

In addition I don't see an easy way of inserting section jumps and
re-defining your paging style coming from pandoc (short of inserting native
OOXML which I'm not sure would be enough).

Also I wouldn't know how to insert lists of tables / figures from pandoc.

You might have better luck going from markdown + yaml to latex, which is
normally a good option for master thesis.
