I have updated my Tex distribution to TexLive-2017 in case there were any issues there. Have checked that the Tex distribution is in the /Library/Tex/texbin directory and that this directory is in my path and that pdflatex is executable from the above directory. Have restarted and run a simple pandoc command: pandoc -r markdown file.md -o file.pdf --verbose. This fails after 'Run #3' with the error message "Error producing PDF". The first section of the verbose output is:
