Docx reader: Block content in list items?

Hi folks,

On a related flavor of my prior post (and perhaps this is the larger 
problem I'm *actually* trying to solve—the auto_identifiers were a 
distraction about a bandaid), is the Docx reader capable of processing 
block level content into a list item? And if so, what's the clearest way to 
format it in Word so that pandoc can process it? 

A partial solution is to use soft line breaks, but that both has negative 
formatting consequences in Word, and doesn't yield quite the right markdown 
on the output side of pandoc.
