Markdown to docx: bookmarks no longer limited to heading text

I am generating docx files from markdown sources since a few years now. I 
suddenly realize that the bookmarks created in docx include the entire 
chapter and not just the heading text. I am running pandoc 2.11.4 under 
MacOS BigSur with Microsoft 365 and MS Word Version 16.45. The result are 
overlapping bookmarks (see attachment).

I have files from mid-November generated with pandoc 2.11.2 where this is 
not the case. However, I rather believe that the issue was caused by one of 
the monthly updates of my Office software.

Any help/insight appreciated, thank you!

Sorry, I'm not clear about the problem.  Supposing the bookmarks
are overlapping (I haven't confirmed this), what is the problem
with that?

At this point, it is more of an observation as I have not hit an actual 
problem. I wanted to find out whether Pandoc has changed the scope of the 
bookmark boundaries or if changes in MS Office cause the unchanged docx 
generated by Pandoc to be displayed differently in terms of its bookmarks. 
I am somewhat concerned by the consequences. Any subsequent manual 
insertion of references to these bookmarks would insert not just the 
heading but the entire section. I do not need to make such manual additions 
to the generated docx file but it is a change that may even be bug or at 
least unintended by Pandoc. I raised it here first and not as a GitHub 
issue, hoping to find out what the expected docx output generated by Pandoc 
actually is, i.e. heading only or entire section.
