Dear Experts,
I find the conversion from a CSV format to markdown very useful. My
question is: the separator must be a comma, or other separators are
allowed? I tried with TABS (i generally write CSV in gvim using tabs) but
it did not work. With commas it is all right.

Currently it's not configurable, so yes, a comma is need.
You can probably find tools to convert from tabbed csv to
comma style.
