fn sigfoo {} should set SIGFOO to SIG_IGN. Will that do it for you?
I notice that if I write
; fn sigwinch { stty }
and then resize my xterm, rc exits fdgchar with ``read: No such file or
directory''.
(This is on a Sun4 under SunOS 4.1.1.)
