Injecting things into the code of the running program via pre-loads 
should be a last resort, not on an equal footing with adjusting the 
program's logging.  In any case, the Bernstein |ptybandage| 
<http://jdebp.eu./Softwares/djbwares/bernstein-ptyget.html> achieves 
this /without/ injecting code into the target programs.
