However, it would greatly help our tools if the rotated, compressed logfile had a .gz file extension. Can anyone suggest a good way to accomplish this at rotation time? Thanks, Mike -- Michael P. Since I assume that you are doing this on linux, I'd suggest that you use inotify to watch the log directory and do renames when svlogd has finished its post-processing. The simplest solution would seem to be a simple nightly cron to perform the compression and thus renaming, since it's not vital that the rotated file be compressed immediately. Mike -- Michael P.
