All, I've just received the following e-mail. I am not able to physically
get these documents, but if you are interested in them, feel free to contact
Mel yourself.
Cheers, Warren

Subject: Old Unix manuals, TMs, etc
Hi,
I started working at Bell Labs in 1971 and although
not in the computing science research department, I
was in another department down the hall. As a result
I have many old Unix manuals, TM's and other papers
that I wish to dispose of. I found you when I did a
search to see if there was anyone who might want them.
Appended below is a list of what I have. If you are
interested in any of it or know who else might be, please
let me know. If I can't find anyone to take them I guess
I'll just throw them out.
Mel

There are some real finds here, esp the 9th and 10th Edition manuals.
I hope someone gets them from him...

I contacted Mel and hope to hear back. We should have room in our lab at
work (Army Research Lab), and I'll do my best to scan or photograph things
if it happens. Someone else might have already been in touch, however, or
might live closer to him than me. I'm unsure where he's located but am
guessing NJ is likely!

I emailed Mel directly and expressed interest in the following books:
· The M4 Marco Processor
· SED - A Non-Interactive Text Editor
· Awk - A pattern Scanning and Processing Language
· Yacc: Yet Another Compiler-Compiler
· RATFOR - A Preprocessor for a Rational Fortran
Here's my comment as to why I'm interested in the aforementioned titles.

The only title that I'd *really* /like/ to get my hands on is "The M4
Macro Processor". (See aforementioned unhealthy interest in M4.)
I'm quite happy to share with the community. I just want to save the
materials from the bin if nobody else claims them.
Note: I've not heard anything back from Mel yet.

Grant - the troff input for all of those titles you listed should be in the
/usr/doc directory in the V6 or V7 archives that Warren has. It's pretty
easy to push them through groff, you may have to tweak the input a little
though. Contact me off list if you still need help,
Clem
