Even they, when I told them I had tried it and wasn't impressed, asked if I had /opt/GNU/bin in my path first? Huh? Decades have gone by, Sun is gone, and they are still cleaning to the compatibilty argument for /usr/bin? SunOS was the system that everyone used because they wanted to, Solaris was what people used because they had to.
