Being somewhat of a collector I also have a Osf1-2.0-Src Tar.zip :-)

Out of curiosity: are the sources for “mx", the binary translator from Ultrix to OSF/1 binaries, included? I have fond memories of mx’ing ghostscript from Ultrix to OSF/1 to get it to run under OSF/1 T1.0 - not only did it work but it was the only way to get ghostscript running (for TeX to PS, of course) for quite some time.

appended osf1-1.lst, osf1-2.lst
They contain output of the 'dir' command on my notebook.

Ah, those are the original installation packages - I have them, by pure accident, for Tru64 Unix 4.0D but I am definitely not uploading those anywhere…
No idea where ‘mx’ would be in them but it must be there as it was shipped without any special additional PAKs needed.

on osf1-1.0 I see a OSCBISL200 which seems to include mx and mxr. I don't
know anything about it but found this chapter online with at the very end:
"For more information on the mx translator and the mxr run-time
environment, see the DECmigrate for DEC OSF/1 V1.2: Translating Executables
manual."
http://www2.phys.canterbury.ac.nz/dept/docs/manuals/unix/DEC_4.0e_Docs/HTML/APS3EETE/CHVRVWXX.HTM
BTW what format do the OSC... 200 archives have so I can 'unpack' them
easily?

You install them using setld, as in:
setld -l OSC…
(you can have multiple sets in one setld command)
To see what is installed:
setld -i
I assume you don’t need a license for it, otherwise you would have a so-called PAK file and you’d load it with:
lmf register < pakfile
lmf load OSF…
the “pakfile” could be (and was, in academia) a huge list of licenses which you’d load in one go.

A misunderstanding, I know all that. It's just that I expected to see a
INSTCTRL file or instctrl directory with such file. That's what I'd consider
normal in DU 4.0 and Tru64 5.0 onwards.
I have that OSF/1 archive on 1.0 and 2.0 a few years already.(found
somewhere) but till now didn't look at it. I've got a DS20E with DU 4.0g.
When I get a change I might install some parts.
Take care,
uncle rubl

Oh, my apologies. I thought it was a rather more basic question. I can have a look at my 4.0D sources and see how those are packaged.

Just a quick check shows
. my archive osf1src10 contains OSC* as tar files, osf1src20 contains
similar filenames but as gzipped tar files.
For osf1src10 untarring all gives a directory ./usr/opt with subdirectories
OSC200 and OSCX200.
A quick check on osf1src10 gives mxr, libmxr.so and mxr.1 but no source of
those.
For osf1src20 same result.
On osf1src10 the OSC* files have date 2003-11-03, on osf1src20 2004-11-06.
Unzipped, untarred the usr directory has size 370Mb. A quick check shows my
osf1src10 and osf1src20 contain the SAME software. Using "ls -lR" most
source files seem from 1994-03-02, but there are groups from 1993-01-26 as
well (e.g. termcap files).
That's all from me.

The more I learn the better I understand I know nothing.

Speaking of, there’s also the OSF/1.0 source from the same uploader:
