I remember getting an early RT without being given the root password.  Now there hadn’t been too many Unix boxes I wasn’t able to break into.    The Rt you could turn the key to the wrench symbol and get into the maintenance menus.   Selecting to view some document which was displayed with more and that you could bang a root shell out of.
