Subject: Re: [ISSUE] [CLOSED] Python-Pillow-6.0.0 breaks MComix
Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2019 07:41:41 +0200	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20190718054141.UQgO9imLMuVBZdT-d8NoNIEDV8C4jzxpekzL-MjrYTM@z> (raw)

Closed issue by seisatsu on void-packages repository

https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/issues/13143
Description: ### System

* xuname:
  *Void 4.19.57_1 x86_64 GenuineIntel notuptodate rrrrrmmdnFFFFFFFFF*
* package:
  *mcomix-1.2.1_1*

### Expected behavior
A compatible legacy version of Python-Pillow should be made available for MComix in the repos, or MComix-1.2.1 should be removed from the repos.

### Actual behavior
MComix is packaged along with Python-Pillow-6.0.0_1, which is incompatible with MComix. See their open issue at https://sourceforge.net/p/mcomix/bugs/116/

### Steps to reproduce the behavior
Install MComix and try running it with the latest version of Python-Pillow. It will not start.

### Recommendation
A newer branch of MComix called MComix3 is available at https://github.com/multiSnow/mcomix3 which fixes the issue and is currently maintained. The MComix in the repos should be replaced with this branch.

Alternatively, this patch might fix the MComix in the repos: https://github.com/mat813/freebsd-ports/commit/d9a5e385afb3dab755ebe5138b09cf7351f992d9
