Add ` ignorepkg=linux ` to /usr/share/xbps.d/xbps.conf. There are a few xbps config files, see [the handbook](https://docs.voidlinux.org/xbps/advanced-usage.html) and the [manpage](https://man.voidlinux.org/xbps.d.5).
