I've been using it for more than a week on daily basis as `/usr/lib/libz.so.1`, no issues so far. `zlib-ng` devs have put a lot of work into testing, and current release is stable, read the release note for 2.0.0: https://github.com/zlib-ng/zlib-ng/releases/tag/2.0.0 Switching to `zlib-ng` will benefit the performance of many programs. Personally I see no downsides.
