If I remove sagelib and jupyterlab, and by hand
```
rm -r /usr/share/jupyter/lab
rm -r /usr/share/jupyter/kernels/ (empty)
```
(probably again leftovers), then reinstall them, I'm on the same page as you, so this is an issue with jupyterlab, not sagelib.
Ready to merge imo.
