If yes, is there an archive that doesn't do that? My understanding is they don't always remove it. I would guess it has something to do with tracking version and releases for ubuntu. About an archive, I haven't seen one (official that is), there for sure are non-official ones, but I would guess they can be even more flaky. edit: I found one or two archives, but I am pretty sure they are not legal (license wise) and both that I found, still lack the newest version - so I am guessing they are managed manually, thus my previous comment about them being even more flaky. edit2: Some distros (NixOS) use snap pkgs, that are supposed to have the same content as the deb. If you say, I am willing to give it a try (it will add a makedependancy on squashfs)
