Honestly idk, I assume it is a separate issue (very little changed in GNOME's handling of ibus and I ruled out the changes in ibusManager). It is just something I noticed while testing things and I was getting a bit frustrated since I couldn't find where the logs for gnome-shell were (eventually I found a freebsd thread that said it was at `~/.cache/gdm/session.log`, and I was able add some log messages and confirm that `_ibusManager._spawn()` in gnome-shell was getting called and it wasn't returning any errors so idk)
