This version complains to stderr every time you run egrep/fgrep (see eg https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1019335); imho you'd better patch that out or there will be **lots** of silly bug reports (think of all the scripts using fgrep/egrep, and all the chances to mistakenly replace fgrep->"grep -E" or egrep->"grep -F").

They also added another warning if you insert an extra backslash before '-', not sure about that.
