As we discussed on IRC with @mhmdanas, this breaks update-check and requires replacing `\d` with `\p{Nd}` in all patterns. Looking at the changelog, this looks like a bug because we are not trying to match non-ascii numbers https://fossies.org/linux/misc/grep-3.10.tar.xz/grep-3.10/NEWS.

@mhmdanas tried 3.9 and couldn't reproduce the issue there
